After studying engineering at Glasgow University Steve Patterson decided a career in financial services offered the best opportunity to apply his creative talents. Having established his own IFA company in 1984 Steve and his team have built up a wealth of experience in pensions and investment planning.
Douglas Kearney Investment Director
Douglas is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and has spent his career predominately in the investment and financial sectors. Prior to joining Intelligent Pensions, Douglas was the co-founder and Finance and Investment Director for an AIM listed Emerging Market Fund, which tripled its net asset value within three years. Douglas's other previous experience includes, managing the Investment Portfolio for Greig Asset Management, a founding Director of Royal Bank of Scotland's private equity business and periods with the Scottish Development Agency and Charterhouse Development Capital specialising in private equity.
David Trenner
Technical Director
An honours graduate from Manchester University David has worked in financial services for over 30 years. In addition to holding the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate including the G60 Pensions qualification David has been a senior pensions examiner for the CII and in his last post was responsible for pensions technical training for a major UK life insurance company. He is well known throughout the industry for his pensions expertise and provides the company with top quality technical back up in his position as Technical Director.
Andrew Pennie Marketing Director
Andrew Pennie was taken on board in August 2010 as Marketing Director in response to the increasing opportunities and IFAs' growing demand for our retirement advisory solutions. Andrew’s marketing skills will also be used to greatly enhance our client interface to provide improved service levels and better communication at all levels. Andrew joined Intelligent Pensions from Santander Private Banking where he was Marketing Director for James Hay and Cater Allen Private Bank. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as an IFA and Investment Specialist for a number of different companies, including Ernst & Young, HSBC and Lloyds Private Banking. He holds a BSc Honours Degree in Accountancy from Hull University, as well as various financial services qualifications.
